ICELES84-6X19.5¶
This infrared shielding assembly is installed on a number of cold heads. This shielding is designed to reduce the amount of infrared radiation the cold head receives when operating inside its fixture.
Tools required¶
- large working surface that can be cut on.
- A new razor knife for cutting the material.
- 1" mylar tape
- Mylar bolt
- Clamps
Cutting the mylar¶
The mylar bolt, identified by the part number on the build order, is stored in logistics. The process of pulling the mylar from the bolt, cutting it, and taping it are all performed on a large work surface. Here the process is being done on a folding table, however this can be done anywhere.
Pull 10 feet of mylar and fasten down with clamps
Using a razorblade, cut the full length from the bolt.
Fold 6 inches of the mylar over 5 times forming several layers of the material and cut it.
Pulling the corners of the mylar folds together, tape them together with the mylar tape.
